North Apartments Flemington

North Apartments is a development only minutes from Melbourne’s CBD and is within easy reach of universities, hospitals, public transport and major road networks. The development is by UAG Group.

KHD supplied approx. 600 square metres of Drainage Cell that was used across the entire project to protect the membraine and to facilitate drainage under finished surfaces such as pavers, garden beds and synthetic turf.

One of the pleasing elements of developments such as North is the interesting and high quality landscape areas, which help green our cities. The use of Drainage Cell within these landscaped areas is a long-term investment in the health of the building.

Why Are Suspended Terraces So Popular?

1Pavers and decks are becoming increasingly popular, especially in urban areas and anywhere there is high-density living. Housing and population growth has led to a growing demand for multi residential properties and construction products across the main cities in Australia.

Free Standing Pedestals Can Help You Raise Your Paving Game

2Creating a raised floor on a balcony, terrace, green roof, pool surrounds or podium comes with a number of challenges. The most common problem faced by contractors when creating these raised floors is the risk of damage to the waterproof membrane underneath.

When you use glue or mechanical fixings to support your pavers or decking it becomes very difficult to access the waterproof membrane beneath. This means that checking for leaks and repairing damage is just as likely to cause further damage to the waterproof membrane, making the problem worse.

How Do Open Joint Paving Systems Work?

3When you use a pedestal paving system, there’s no need to use bedding sand or grout between the joins. The pavers are suspended on adjustable pedestals and this means that water can drain more freely between the joins instead of pooling and potentially damaging the membrane underneath.

Pavers that are placed on a setting bed can be damaged more easily due to the restricted drainage above the waterproof membrane. This can potentially cause efflorescence and staining as well as damage to the paver support.

What Type of Pavers Work Best With VersiPave?

3When you’re thinking about installing a paver system, you want to know that all the different elements will work well together. Even with the best support in the world, the wrong pavers won’t give you optimum waterproofing and may even lead to long-term problems.

We would highly recommend using Bluestone Granite or Porcelain pavers with your VersiPave system. Years of experience has indicated to us that these pavers are the most compatible with the VersiPave pedestals and when combined, give the best results overall.
